I am trying to find information about my great- grandmother Julianna George and her parents  who I am told are from Carbonear, Newfoundland. I am told that my g-grandmother"s parents are a Thomas George and Catherine(Theresa?) McCarthy, also from Carbonear?? Julianna married Pierce Power, from St. John's at Sacred Heart Parish, CUling, Bay of islands on Nov. 16, 1874. Any information would be appreciated.

Anne Dunphy,

It's very nice to hear from you Anne, a former parishioner of St. Patrick's Parish in Carbonear. I'm glad you enjoyed browsing the web site. You probably lived very close to the church. Who are your relatives in Carbonear? Was John (Jack) Dunphy your brother? Incidently, my father (James Patrick Butt) was born in 1919 and grew up in Crocker's Cove. It's really good to hear from you. God bless!

Hello all! I was born in Carbonear in 1920. I graduated from the Convent at St. Patrick. I married an American sailor (Father Peddle Married us) and then we lived in Jacksonville Florida for 50 year of marriage with 7 children. I now live with my daughter in winder Georgia. Thanks you to all for putting together this website. the pictures brought back many wonderful memories. I was able to recognize all but three pastures.

Leisure time has made me think of my family and their back grounds. I found this site first try and have found christians names that are still being used today, leading me to believe Mike Lindsey is the person I shoild contact . Thank You

What information are you looking for, I've trace most of the gear family back to the late 1700's - early 1800's but still have some gaps to fill. Let me know what specifically you are interested in finding out about the Gear's.

I have lists of the Carbonear marriages for 1850 thru' 1899 but there are some gaps. Also I have lists of baptisms from 1870 thru' 1891 parts 1 & 2.

Are there any other lists of earlier or later marriages & baptisms & any lists of recorded dates of death for the parish that are available or accessable via the web / internet. I am trying to fill in gaps for the family name of Gear. Gear's originally came from Perry's Cove.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
