Lawrence Gear was born 11 April 1830 to Alexander Gear & Mary Eustace and married Catherine White born 29 June 1834. Catherine's parents were Michael White born 8 October 1796 in Killarney, Kerry,  Ireland and Charlotte Butt born in the early 1800's in Salmon Cove, Newfoundland. Catherine's grandparents were James White & Mary Sullivan. That's all I have at this moment. I'm trying to research the Gear's around the early 1800's. I believe the Gear's also came from Ireland with Alexander & his brother arriving around 1820. You may contact me direct at mike.lindsey@rogers.com

I am currently working on the family tree for the Gear's. Lawrence Gear was born 11 April 1830, the fifth child & third son of Alexander Gear & Mary Eustace. Alexander Gear was born around 1800 & is shown on the Perry's Cove Voters List for 1832 together with a Thomas Gear. They could be brothers. We believe he arrived in Newfoundland in 1820. I have all the names & dates for all of the 11 children they had except for confirmed names & dates for the last two believed to be John born in 1840 & Richard born in 1842. I have quite a bit of data on later generations. My wife  is fifth generation. If you have any information i would be greatful to recieve it.

Dear Sir: W?ould it be possible to let me know if you have any birth, death, and marriage records before 1861? I am trying to trace my family back to Ireland and I have traced my great great grandparents to your marriage recordes of 1861 (lawrence Gear and Catherine White. My people left Newfoundland for America, but I still have many family in Newfoundland. I travelled to Ireland and have lived here for 30 years, doing a full cycle! I should be greatful for any help. Thank you for your time Regards, Maureen Rooney Wicklow, Ireland
