Rev. James P. Gleason was born in 1815. Rev. Gleeson was ordained in Ireland when he was 26 and came to Newfoundland in 1842 to serve as the first Parish Priest in Carbonear. He served as Parish Priest in Carbonear for almost eight years until his death in 1949. He was the first parish priest who actually lived in Carbonear.
Rev. James P. Gleeson's grave is unable to be located in the St. Patrick's Cemetery. The last record of it was in August 2, 1983. Where it was said to be located at Plot Number 64, Stone Number F in fair condition. At this current time I am unable to find a picture of Rev. James P. Gleeson
