Reverend Larry George was born on November 16, 1954 on Valley Road, Carbonear to John and Gertrude (Ward) George. He attended All Hallows Seminary for 6 years from 1972-1978. He was ordained by Bishop Penney at St. Patrick's Church in Carbonearn at age 24.

He served at Gander and St. Brendan's and was in Gambo in 1981 and at Kings Cove from 1981 to 1983 and there after as Parish Priest at Plate Cove. In 1988 he built a new church in Plate Cove with the support of Parishioners and friends.

He developed heart problems and was sent to London Ontario for a heart transplant but he needed to reduce his blood pressure before any surgery was possible. He did not have a heart transplant and spent his final days at home in Carbonear.

In his 14th year of Priesthood, he died at the Carbonear General Hospital in Carbonear on 31 August 1992 at age 37.

He is buried in the Family Plot in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Carbonear.
